Sometimes, even simplest stories reveal a truth about human life, a truth about moral complexity. I always like films in which situation plays a role of a hero as well as a villain. After watching this French film "Two Days, One Night' (with English Subtitles), I felt sometimes writers & directors can take the simpler route for making the best film. Even, it won't require makeup, glamour, big quotes or fancy dialogues to make a great film.

Plot: The story is about working wife & mother Sandra (Marion Cotillard), who has recently gone through depression stroke & her family is hardly able to make up for regular expenses. She works for Solar Panel maker company, along with 16 coworkers. On Friday, she comes to know that her company has put voting option for her colleagues, in which they will either eliminate Sandra's job or lose their annual 1000 euro bonuses. Obviously, no one is happy to vote for elimination of Sandra from her work, but everyone also has to meet their ends of life. Ultimately all employees have the inclination to vote for their bonuses. If Sandra loses her job, she and her husband won't be able to put through they livelihood. Company schedules up voting on Monday, which offers Sandra two days and a night to convince at least 09 of her coworkers to give up their bonuses so that her job and so her life will be intact. The screenplay is simply about Sandra's one to one discussion with her coworkers. Pursuing them how her job is more important than their bonuses. And each time when she put her in their shoes, she finds it guilty asking to give up part of their livelihood.

Soul of this film is the actress Marion Cortland, who had been nominated for Oscar award for this role. You will find her acting so genuine that you will definitely feel Sandra's helplessness, guilt, anger in her acting. Some of the scenes had to be re-take for more than 50-60 times, just to be sure of her emotional feeling of character. Actor Fabrizio Rongione has executed the role of Sandra's husband, who encourages her at each interaction with her coworkers. Cinematography has been simple, the camera following the tail of character Sandra, like a drone camera following real-life person.

During the film, viewer put himself in shoes of film characters thinking what would we have done in this situation. And no doubt, we feel uncertain of the answer. The climax of a film the leave us in surprise, which gives a test of moral selection for Sandra.
